Welcome to Derwen Dental Academy. I’m Maria Pemberton, Director of the Academy and your tutor for our dental nursing courses. I began my dental nursing career at just 16 and have since developed my knowledge and expertise through a wide range of courses and professional experience. As Director, I’m committed to ensuring Derwen delivers gold-standard education in a welcoming and supportive environment. I look forward to sharing my experience and helping you build the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to achieve your ambitions in dental nursing.
Maria Pemberton, Director
The name Derwen Dental Academy is a little nod to where our story began. The academy grew from Wooding Dental Group, whose oak tree has always been at the heart of its identity. Derwen means oak in Welsh, so for an academy proudly based in Wales, the name felt like the perfect fit. Just like an oak tree, we want Derwen to be a place where people can put down strong roots, grow in confidence and build an exciting future in dentistry.
