Welcome to the new dental education hub of North Wales: Derwen Dental Academy. Our new purpose-built academy features up to three training rooms, with two of them separated by a partition room which is able to hold classes of up to 30 students. The academy will be led by Director; Maria Pemberton, who started her career in dental nursing at just 16 but now has 40 years of experience in the industry, including 15 years in education. The name Derwen Dental Academy is a little nod to where our story began. The academy grew from Wooding Dental Group, whose oak tree has always been at the heart of its identity. Derwen means oak in Welsh, so for an academy proudly based in Wales, the name felt like the perfect fit. Just like an oak tree, we want Derwen to be a place where people can put down strong roots, grow in confidence and build an exciting future in dentistry.
